Our Roots
What started as a dance ministry for a local Montgomery County, MD church, has now evolved into an empowerment movement open to young ladies of all backgrounds.
In this present day, women, especially women of color, are still treated inferiorly. Some, if not most, just accept it because they do not know what to do and/or fear the consequences. It’s time to stop that narrative. And the key is to teach them while they are young. The Bible says, ‘Consider the lilies, how they grow, they neither toil or spin’. I see little girls/young women as lilies, innocent and pure, and at times oblivious to the world’s harshness. The fact that this type of lily can grow in different environments, full sun, partial sun, or variations of shade is amazing. That’s why I know, with enough nurture, young ladies can thrive no matter where they come from or socioeconomic class. Teaching them that hard work is necessary, but working ‘smart’ is imperative. This is our focus. Through volunteerism, the arts, life lessons and lots of fun, we want to help mold the future female into a fearless powerhouse. They will be ready to take on the world and create their own success!

▪️Mistakes and failures are ok. No one is perfect! These less than favorable moments often make you stronger.

▪️The answers to the toughest questions are not just black or white. There are many gray areas that are also reasonable explanations. Exploring new ideas will help improve critical thinking and acceptance.
Well-rounded
▪️Exposure to different cultures and environments.
▪️Lyrical dance is the foundation of this company. This will be expounded on with weekly practices. If any interest, there will be more opportunities to other forms of dance/music/arts.
Experiment
▪️Don’t be scared to try something new.

Mentoring
▪️Each member will be paired with a professional woman based on personality, and career/personal/educational goals.
Education
▪️Doing your best in school is imperative. With parental involvement, we will help reach this goal.
▪️Learning does not only occur in the classroom. The young women will do Passion Projects (individually and/or collectively).
Networking
▪️Fun quarterly symposiums lead by women excelling in their fields.
Trusting
▪️God has equipped you with everything you need for success. It’s YOUR job to acknowledge your ability and we are here to help
L.O.V. DANCE
Liturgical dance is the foundation of this organization and therefore extremely important. This group of talented ladies, Lilies of the Valley Dance Ministry, perform several times a year at various venues in Maryland/Washington, DC metropolitan area and Delaware. We are hoping to diversify our dance style and expand our membership and exposure. We currently have weekly practices. If interested in joining, just send us a message!
